Calgary Citizen's Coalition...Could This Be The Birth of A New Political Movement in Calgary?

Twitter user @Mystz sent this to Save Calgary yesterday:

I think this is a great idea. There are a number of people and groups in this city who are tired of the nonsense that goes on in city hall and the Council Chambers.  Among them is the group Save Calgary which was formed close to a year ago by an anonymous group of Calgarians who were concerned with the direction city hall was going in.

Some thought the group would fizzle out after the 2017 election given the re-election of the Councillors they were campaigning against.  Instead the group is now the leading voice of opposition to those on city council whose agendas are more focused on social engineering and legacy building than they are to the betterment of the citizens of Calgary.

Of the three levels of government, it is at the municipal level that most of the decisions that effect our daily lives are made. Because we don't have a political party system at the municipal level, it can be difficult for any kind of opposition to be mounted in an organized manner.  This is why it is up to us, the citizens of Calgary to be that opposition.

There are a number of us online who feel this way.  Save Calgary stands out among many the voices of opposition to the Nenshi regime. I would like to be part of a coalition of citizens, lead by Save Calgary, that would act as de facto opposition to a council intent on bankrupting the city.

My friends, I want to know what you think. I want us all to come together under a single banner organized, strong, and ready to fight the good fight. Only be doing this together can we make things better.

If anyone has any ideas as to name or logo ideas, throw them my way.

Onward

  1. Excellent and truthful writings. Am certain that many concerned and fed up Citizens will support this. It's time! Thank you for resonating with my sentiments on the poor leadership in this city and the taxed raped Citizens within.
